Bio [the short version]
Matthew Atkins is a lover of children's book illustration and technology. He has a degree in illustration from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. When he is not sketching at a coffee shop, on the computer, studying or working he is...taking a nap. He currently lives in Seattle, Wa and is studying web design at Seattle Central.
History
Matthew was born in Oakland, CA. However Matthew has lived in many places including, Sacramento, Denver, Phoenix, San Francisco and New York. He grew up doodling and creating as often as he could with whatever he could find be it crayons, markers or his favorite... a cardboard box. Throughout his life art has been an outlet and expression of his life experiences.
Inspirations
Throughout his years as an artist many other artists and cities have influenced his work, especially the works of LeUyen Pham, Peter De Seve and Claire Wendling. Much of his work is created from the life he surrounds himself with (as well as many chai tea lattes) from the hustle and bustle of New York to the West Coast beauty of San Francisco. He is always looking for new inspiration.
What I’m up to Now
Currently Matthew is enjoying life in Seattle, WA developing his craft as a web designer at Seattle Central Community College, working on art projects and sketching whenever possible...and sometimes sleeping.
